Prof. A.H.MTowhidul Alam has been in surgical practice including Endo-Laparoscopic Surgery in Dhaka for the last thirty years and had the unique opportunity to pioneer Endo-Laparoscopic Surgery including Interventional Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) in Bangladesh. As of today he has the largest individual experience in full range of therapeutic endoscopy in this country.

1. Trained on Laparoscopic surgery & Basic Endoscopy in 1993 at Dhaka.
2. Advanced Laparoscopic & Endoscopic Surgery in 1999 at SRMC and Research Institute, Chennai, India under Prof. B. Krishna Rau.
3. In 1999 with Dr. C. Palanivelu on advanced Laparoscopic digestive surgery & Laparoscopic knotting and suturing techniques in Coimbatore Institute of Gastrointestinal Endo Surgery.
4. In 2004 training on advanced laparoscopic surgery in Singapore National Hospital.
5. In 2006 completed “Certificate in Clinical Ultrasonography” conducted by The Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography
6. In 2008 on advance laparoscopic surgery at Ethicon Institute of Surgical Education, Delhi, India.
7. In 2013 fellow ship on Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) und.er Dr. Vipulroy Rathod in Mumbai.
8. in 2014 training on EUS at Jaswant Rai Specialty Hospital, Meerut, U.P, India under Dr. Malay Sharma.
9. In 2016 to Boldota Institute of Digestive Sciences (BIDS), Mumbai, India for training on both therapeutic endoscopy & EUS under Dr. Amit Madoy.
10. In 2017 a fellow ship training in the Gastroenterology Hospital of Zhengzhou University, China under Prof. Bing Rong Liu on NOTES, POEM ,ESD & EMR.

He had the unique opportunity to pioneer therapeutic endoscopy including ERCP among the surgeon for the first time in Bangladesh. He is the pioneer of Endoscopic Ultrasound among all specialist of Bangladesh. He has also introduced Third Space Surgery for the first time in this country. Finally Endo-Laparoscopic surgery (Hybrid Surgery) in this country is also his contribution.

He has performed more than15000 Laparoscopic surgery,8000 therapeutic ERCP &1100 GI therapeutic endoscopy & 500 EUS, which Is one of the large individual experience of Endoscopic surgery in Bangladesh.

He and his team have directly trained 326 aspiring Surgeons on Basic GI endoscopy from all over the country during the last 15 years. He has also involved as key person in the training of more than 700 Surgeons of different specialty in Basic laparoscopic Surgery through SELSB & UCELS of BSMMU.

Prof. Towhidul Alam is now related with many international body like, Governor ELSA, Member SAGES & APHS. He is also member many national body like, SOSB, SELSB, BGS, He is the past president of SOSB & SELSB. He has got 40 publication in national & international journals and presented 120 papers on his personal work on Endo-Laparoscopic surgery both nationally & internationally.
